There are acres of trees, wildlife, cows, chickens and so much more. Plus, the Gladeville community is similar to the friendly characters in the movie. “We are looking into ways to implement that phrase in the future. I have some ideas,” beams Wilson. “There really is no
Achieving Tranquility Between The Lakes Community Features News by Oscar Smith - October 10, 2019October 10, 20190 Living in peace is about living harmoniously with yourself, and all other beings around you. While your definition of a tranquil life might vary from someone else’s, there are things we can do to promote peace in our lives, strive for better relationships, create a calm environment for yourself, and seek to encourage it in your community. With persistence and patience, we each can enjoy the peaceful life that we’re mutually seeking. Eliminate toxic people from your life. If you have someone in your life who criticizes you, starts arguments for no reason, or blames you for their problems, this can interfere with your sense of inner peace. Distancing yourself from them may be necessary, especially if the person is
Thinking Of Fall Community Features News by Krys Midgett - October 10, 2019October 10, 20190 written by Glenn Hanks Norman Rockwell had a knack for capturing the epitome of America at a glance, for nearly five decades, on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post. Rustic views of home and family were constant themes in his work. Fall represents some of the best imagery of living in America. The beginning of school and the end of summer frolicking bring fall festivities and a new regiment to our daily actions. School schedules, bus routes and after school activities begin to fill our calendars. Fall brings a different flavor to our lives. Majestic swaths of color begin to erupt across our landscape and the splendor of nature reveals herself as she prepares for winter. Changes in clothing styles creep into
The Chicken Realtor?! Community Features Local Business Spotlight News by Rebecca Talbot - October 10, 2019October 10, 20190 written by Rebecca Engelhardt I’m sitting with Stacy Gee asking her basic questions for her the article, however, we drifted…and drifted…and drifted. You see, Stacy and I have been friends since Kindergarten at Lakeview Elementary. We reminisced about slumber parties and trouble we may or may not have gotten into! Stacy has lived in Mt. Juliet for almost her entire 43 years. She’s what we call a “Unicorn:” a mythical person who grew up in MJ and remembers the old days of gravel roads and fields as far as you could see. Not long after she graduated from Mt. Juliet High School in 1994, she met the love of her life, Chris. They were soon married and
Be Kind! Community Features News by Krys Midgett - October 10, 2019October 10, 20190 written by Sandi Register In my last article, I asked you to practice random acts of kindness. This time I’m asking you to be more specific. There are people who need kindness a little more than others, the elderly, the handicapped… My mom is 89 years old with limited mobility. It is hard to juggle her walker, groceries, the door, etc. Something as simple as holding the door for someone like this can make a world of difference. Be aware when you are out and about, look for opportunities to help someone who faces extra challenges. Be kind to each other!
All Is Fair In Love In War Community Features News by Krys Midgett - October 10, 2019October 10, 20190 Sometimes things just work out, right? The perfect parking spot might open up or, once in a great while, its the magical intersection of two hearts. That’s the story of two Wilson County residents, Earl and Carole Kennedy. They considered each other friends but the Army isn’t terribly focused on making sure people are posted together…until… One early morning well before dawn, Earl boarded an Air Force cargo plane headed back “over there.” The planes are loud and uncomfortable so, once airborne, he unbuckled from the web seat, shed his gear, climbed atop a huge cargo pallet, tucked his Kevlar
That’s The Way (uh huh, uh huh) I Like It Community Features by Krys Midgett - October 10, 2019October 10, 20190 written by Pam Montgomery Jackson Themed weddings are incredibly popular this time of year. A themed wedding is not your old-fashioned type of wedding. Most of the time they consist of something that has special meaning, ranging from a favorite movie to holidays and childhood dreams. One of the biggest themes used in weddings today is a rustic wedding, usually a lot of wood and rust decor with touches of lace and bling, ball jar vases, and cowgirl boots. There will be lots of flickering candles that show dancing shadows on the wooden walls and couples swaying to country music. Bohemian or Boho type weddings are popular, too. From dream catchers to whimsical, airy, flowing dresses, pale colors adorn the decor.
