It’s Summer ….. Get Out!
I speak to so many people who hate to “exercise”!
They don’t like the structure or feel that it’s a chore. I totally get it!! If you’re not used to working out or doing cardio regularly, it can be quite chore-like and yes, you’re tired!
While getting regular cardio is best, break it up with things outside that you LIKE to do! Gardening? Fishing? Riding a jet-ski? Playing ball with your dog?
So, after my past articles in Life Between the Lakes, by now you know I’m not your ordinary health coach. Yes, I believe in exercise, eating right and yada, yada, yada.
You know what I also think is just as important? Doing what you love, having fun, laughing, being with family and friends, and feeling accomplished! If you’ve been putting off going to the lake with your friends because you must “work-out”, you’re missing a facet of your health and you deserve to have fun! So, you’re just going to hang out on the boat and not ski? Ok, so you’re getting plenty of O2 from being outside which helps with everything!!!
Did I mention IT’S HOT outside?? Oh, now you’re sweating! Sweet! detoxing your body thru its largest organ – your skin. And what’s that big yellow thing in the sky giving you Vitamin D?? I mean, heaven forbid you laugh and have a good time!!! Oh, stop!! Endorphins, serotonin, decreased depression/anxiety – all going towards a healthier you.
Now, let me be clear. Inhaling alcoholic beverages all day. Especially in the hot sun… not a good idea. Make sure to be smart about it! Stay hydrated …. Preferably with water; lemon water would be even better! You want to finish the garden? Go do it!!! You’re grounding yourself with Mother Earth, absorbing nutrients in the soil, getting some good ol’ vitamin D, sweating and feeling accomplished!
I know this article is shorter than my last but I don’t need to say much to get my point across. Go outside!!! Enjoy the fresh air, be with friends, laugh, enjoy your summer!!!! Sunny today and raining tomorrow?? Go fishing today and then the gym tomorrow!! Self-care is more than making sure you do one hour of daily cardio and eating your kale…. Health is an entire daisy of colors that we all deserve to have.
