Here’s The Deal – February
Go on Facebook at any given time and see the latest “get healthy” trends! Go here…eat this….drink that….use this….take this pill!
We’re constantly bombarded with the latest and greatest! There is always
something new pushing us to “fix it fast!!” But here’s the deal, you didn’t get unhealthy fast. You didn’t wake up one morning with chronic pain, depression, anxiety, obesity, and so on.
So, you can’t expect it to go away overnight either. And that’s totally OK!! Forward is forward!! No one is you, so don’t let anyone tell you how to do you! But, let me also help you out by letting you in on a little secret!
There is more to being healthy than what you eat and your physical activity. I’m NOT downplaying those at all. However, stress in our careers, relationships, finances, and home life is just as toxic.
How happy are you? Do you have “joy” in your life? Are you getting enough rest? Do you have a solid “circle” of people in your life who support and praise you?
If this sounds like “living on a white fluffy cloud,” you’re not alone. But why is this talk of “peace” in our lives and health so consistently thought of as unattainable? I mean, it shouldn’t be.
“Peace in our lives” should be the standard by which we live each day. And you want to know another secret? You KNOW what you need to do. Don’t you?
Yes, sometimes I must bluntly point out the obvious, but once I do, they always say, “Yeah, I know….”
So, what’s holding you back from the best version of you? Are you in an unhealthy relationship? Do you loathe going to work every day? Is your circle a bunch of “Debbie Downers?”
Now, I’m not saying do a complete overhaul overnight! Pick something you know is toxic to your peace and work on it. Remember, forward is forward! I think we have forgotten what “peace” feels like, but when we feel it, we know it! So why did I steer you away from physical activity and eating healthy, being such a key component to health? Well, because we ALL seem to know those! We can recite them like our phone numbers. Eat right and exercise…blah blah blah. Yeah, we got it. You can eat all the kale salad you want and work out 5 days a week. But if your peace is compromised, so is your health.
