Ahoy, Nashville! Yachtley Crew Brings the Breezy Vibes to The Cannery on October 22nd
Get ready to set sail with Yachtley Crew as they cruise into Nashville, bringing all their breezy vibes to The Cannery on October 22nd at 7 pm. Known as the Titans of Soft Rock, and also called the KISS of Soft Rock in a write-up by the OC Register in Orange County, according to Philly Ocean. “I can’t think of a better way to describe what we do. We’re a very high-energy show.”
“This will be our second time playing in Nashville, but it’s a city that we’ve really wanted to play for a long time. We wanted to make sure that we were doing it right and have a venue that could accommodate the type of show that we put on for people who haven’t seen us play. It’s a whole production,” he added.
Yachtley Crew isn’t just another band on stage going through the motions; they deliver a full show, the result of eight years of refining and perfecting their performance. That dedication is why their fans keep coming back for more. They see playing in Nashville as a huge opportunity, given the city’s vibrant music scene. In a place where you can catch top-notch musicians in any bar on any night, they know they need to bring something truly special. And that’s exactly what they plan to deliver at their upcoming show.
They bring their Southern California feel and turn any venue into a laid-back paradise, complete with spot-on covers, original tracks, and all the nostalgic feels of the late ’70s and early ’80s. Whether you’re a die-hard Yacht Rock fan or just looking for a good time, Yachtley Crew’s show promises to be the perfect musical escape.
Since their debut in 2017, Yachtley Crew has been on a nonstop joyride, going from selling out local clubs to rocking stages across the country. They’ve performed everywhere, from Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to SiriusXM’s Yacht Rock Radio, even ringing in the New Year on the “Las Vegas Countdown.” Nashville is just one of the many stops on their “Full Steam Ahead” tour, featuring songs from their first EP – Seas The Day.
“Our first EP, came out last year on Jimmy Buffett’s Mailboat Records. It’s a five-song EP and it has four of our favorite yacht rock songs. It also has an all-original song that we wrote in the style of yacht rock. That one’s called Sex on the Beach. We released it last summer,” said Ocean. The video for Sex On The Beach features Mario Lopez (you know, Slater from Saved By The Bell) and is on the Yachtley Crew’s YouTube Channel.
The band lineup—Philly Ocean on vocals, Sailor Hawkins on drums, Baba Buoy on bass, Tommy Buoy on guitar, Stoney Shores on backing vocals, Pauly Shores on sax and flute, and Matthew McDonald on keys—knows how to get the party started. Their high-energy shows feature covers of Yacht Rock classics and original tunes, including their hit “Sex on the Beach” from their debut EP, Seas the Day. Produced by Grammy-winner Chris Lord-Alge, the EP is a love letter to Yacht Rock, featuring smooth-as-sand covers like “Africa,” “Brandy,” and “Ride Like the Wind” that are guaranteed to get the crowd swaying.
For Yachtley Crew, it’s not just about playing music; it’s about creating a whole vibe. Fans decked out in captain’s hats and beachwear are a common sight at their shows, where letting loose and diving into a wave of nostalgia is encouraged. The band’s performances are more than just concerts—they’re an invitation to escape from everyday life and embrace the carefree spirit of Yacht Rock.
But there’s more to Yachtley Crew than just good times and great music. The band is also known for their big hearts, having played at charity events like the Mario Lopez Golf Classic to help raise funds for the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Of the many charities that they’ve been involved in helping, Oxfam is one that they are very passionate about. That charity provides livestock to families in impoverished countries. The livestock donations can make a significant impact, offering a sustainable source of income and helping families build a better future. They’ve also contributed to organizations like UNICEF and the Red Cross.
They are also gearing up to release a Christmas EP called Seas and Greetings. The upcoming collection will feature a mix of familiar holiday tunes and some new tracks that might be less known to American audiences. You’ll even be treated to an original song they wrote titled “I’m Coming Home for Christmas.”
They had a blast working on the project, “It’s my absolute favorite time of the year,” Ocean shared, noting how meaningful the holiday season is to them. He added that one of his favorite causes is the Christmas toy drive, in Los Angeles, that they’ve organized for the past few years. It’s a way for them to give back and make the holidays a little brighter for families facing tough times.
