Braingineers Lab
Children thirst for knowledge and a way to express their creativity.
Braingineers Lab has created just a way to help your children develop their skills and find others that have similar interests. What they have created is a makerspace for kids. This is an area where they can go to work on projects, and be with other like-minded families and create.
The founder of Braingineer Labs, Betty Rodriguez, came up with this idea based on the makerspace organizations that are very popular in other areas of the country. She wanted to create a place where kids can learn what the future may hold and not be afraid of the unexpected. She knows that kids thrive on creating and using their imaginations. Braingineers Lab will give them the
opportunity to do just that.
Currently, the lab offers workshops,
after-school programs, and home school workshops. They also pick up kids from area
elementary and middle schools in Mt. Juliet. The kids come and attend the
workshop that is designated for that day. They have a schedule of their different workshops and programs on their website. These include Art, Spanish Immersion, 3D Printing,
Living Science,
Coding, and many more. Registration is currently open for the Spring semester and for Summer Camp. The goal of Braingineers Lab is to inspire and challenge your kids to learn. They have very interesting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) hands-on workshops.
Rodriguez is a Computer Science Engineer from Mexico. She loves to share her knowledge of technology with anyone who is interested in learning it. She said that she grew up in a place and time where women did not go into her field of study. In fact, it was discouraged. Her mission is to bring a lot more girls into the field of technology and spark their interest.
On the horizon, Braingineers Lab will offer classes in various areas of interest, for adults and children. Rodriguez also wants to start a scholarship, in the future, for girls from low-income families to come to the lab and learn.
Check out their programs at www.braingineerslab.com. Once your kids see what it is all about, they will voluntarily get off of the video games (or videos of people playing video games) and into the lab.
