You Have To Take That First Step
written by Krys Midgett
“I have learned that if you don’t take the first step, you will never know what you could have accomplished,” says Christine (Chris) Tomlin.
She has taken many incredible first steps in her career and life, and has the accomplishments to show for it. In 2005, Tomlin left 30 years in the hospitality industry because she was tired of the corporate world. Tomlin said, “A friend of mine suggested I get my insurance license and work with him. The prescription coverage requirement had just went into effect for individuals who were on Medicare. It did not take long to realize that this was an opportunity to help people, while making a living. It was a win-win!”
That step led to opening her own business. Tomlin Insurance Group was opened in 2017 by Chris and her husband, David. The office is located in Donelson, where Chris has been a resident since 1982. Although, they live in Donelson, Chris does a great deal of business in Mt. Juliet. Her favorite place to spend time in Mt. Juliet is Billy Goat Cafe on Mt. Juliet Rd. She says it is a great place for coffee and good conversation.
Chris originally moved to Nashville to attend David Lipscomb University in 1970 and made Middle Tennessee her home. One of her most interesting jobs in Nashville was at Opryland USA. For those of you who are not lucky enough to remember Opryland, it was a theme park that had great shows and great music. Opry Mills Mall is located on what was once part of the parking lot to Opryland. At Opryland, Tomlin was in the original cast of the show ‘I Hear America Singing.’
Eventually she met and married David, and gained two children. They now have six grandchildren. One of her favorite memories includes spending time in her grandmother’s kitchen. She said that thinking about it always makes her smile.
Tomlin also enjoyed traveling to Italy. She added that it is a beautiful country with lovely people and great wine.
Chris loves serving Medicare eligible clients and her community. If she was not running Tomlin Insurance Group, she’d still be doing something that involved serving others. She stated that the thing she wished to accomplish most in her life is “to live a life worthy of hearing ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.’”
The Tomlins’ are both Licensed Health and Life Insurance Brokers. They lead the Senior Adult Ministry at Woodmont Hills Church and are active in their community Homeowners Association.
Their goal is to educate their clients so that when it is time to enroll in Medicare they understand their health insurance options and how it works with Medicare.
There is no “One Size Fits All” when it comes to your Health Insurance options. They can find your perfect fit.
